Last week of August, and  summer is almost over...but not all the warm weather!  And that makes for a nice, long growing season here in central NC.  Our farmers take advantage of that by planting and harvesting vegetables and fruits right into the autumn.

Right now, there are still loads of tomatoes...hybrids, heirlooms, salad, slicing, cherry...a tomato variety for every need, from soup to sauce to salad!  They also have peaches, peppers (both sweet and hot!), okra, cucumbers, green beans, and more.

And if you want to plant herbs in the garden or in pots for use inside during the winter, we've got those, too...and blueberry bushes and ornamentals!

Our bakery vendors can supply all sorts of breads, granola, fried apple pies, and cookies.  Want something to spread on those fresh, homemade breads?  We've got jams and jellies and local honey!

Of course, the cold months are on their way, and the nights will begin to be chilly.  So, you can stop by our craft tables for handmade hats, scarves, shawls, neckwarmers, and cozy infant clothes (along with potholders, dishcloths, cute stuffed animals, pet beds, and cat toys!).  We also have handmade goat milk soaps and lotions to help soothe both sunburned and winter-dry skin.

A few pictures from the Farmers' Market in Troy

A great place to visit with friends

We enjoy conversing with the market-goers.

Rain or Shine, the market will be present and accounted for.

Each week there is something new at the market - come see what's new this week!

Sometimes, the earlier you come, the better the selection.

The great thing is it's every Thursday!  If you missed us last week, you can catch us this week!

Our list of vendors is growing - as is the list of local produce available!

It's not too late to put some vegetable seedlings into the ground - one of the many great things about our North Carolina climate - the long growing season!

It's always a special market day when we have a cooking demonstration - tune into our weekly newsletter to stay abreast of the coming weeks;  email us at mcfma2011@gmail.com and put the word "add" in the subject line to be added to the list of newsletter recipients.

p.s. we're proud to announce that we are official members of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce!
